Rodney James Seabrooks affectionately known as "Rocky", was born to Blandina and the late James Seabrooks on July 31, 1952, in Philadelphia, Pa. He went home to be with the Lord on June 24. 2011. Rodney was the eldest of two children. He attended Emlen School. Holy Cross Elementary School. and Cardinal Dougherty High School in Phila. Pa. Rodney excelled academically. Upon graduation he matriculated to Howard University, and later enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served as a Medic. Rodney was honorably discharged as a Disabled Veteran in 1974. Rodney was gifted at birth with many God given talents.He was an Artist and Musician. Music was his passion. He played many instruments, keyboard, guitar, bass, but being a percussionist was his specialty. He composed music that is registered in The Library of Congress.He performed on several occasions at the National Veterans Creative Arts Festival.He was the first black drummer in the Cardinal Dougherty High School Band.Rodney was a member of a local Mt. Airy singing group during his teen years. Rodney enjoyed painting, sketching, and he received many art awards. He loved people, and had a gentle spirit, and kind heart. He always saw the best in people. Through His gifts, God was able to use him to connect with others. As a young man Rodney fervently served the Lord and his spiritual community for over eight years as an Altar Boy.He remained a member of the Catholic Church at 54th and lebanon Streets. He frequently attended True Light Fellowship Church. Rodney had an open heart to prayer, and hearing the Word of God. In his later years Rodney endured many, struggles, trials, and tribulations, yet God's mercy always prevailed. Rodney leaves to cherish his loving memory: his mother Blandina Seabrooks, his sister Carolyn Seabrooks-Patterson, (3) uncles, Marion Seabrooks, Jackie Stitt, (wife Jean), and Chester Tuggle: aunts, Thelma Darby, Frankiebell johnson, Virginia Caldwell, Reba Wilks, Jacqueline Grier, Rochelle and betty Stitt, and a host of cousins and friends.
